My Gorgeous New Chair From Summit At Home - An Honest Review

For all of you working from home (or just sitting at home, for that matter), I want to stress how important it is to find the right chair. As a PhD student at Oxford, I've always had posture issues. I tend to slouch forwards if my chair is not the right height, shape or size. It's quite hard to work productively when my chair is not comfortable, and the long hours writing my thesis seems to stretch on and on. I can't seem to find the perfect chair, as those on Amazon has disappointed me. They are not supportive, break easily and just seem uncomfortable to sit on. 

Enter Summit At Home, a British chair brand that sells supportive and high-quality chairs for the home and office. Now, what's special about this brand? For starters, they have a wide range of supportive chairs that are actually ergonomic- unlike some of the cheaper office chairs that you can find. I actually browsed their user-friendly and gorgeous website for ages looking at their impressive range of chairs. 

Summit At Home's got a long history. The founder set up Summit Chairs in 1977 designing high quality chairs for the education, healthcare and office environment.  The brand has been operating for over 28 years from a factory in Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire. The brand specialises in high tech, functional and beautiful chairs for commercial markets. With over 1 million chairs sold, you can find Summit chairs pretty much anywhere in the UK.

On their website, you can find a variety of chairs with different designs. The ones that stand out to me are their Inflexion range, which is an executive chair for the home office with a high-tech design. It has an inflatable lumbar as well as a host of supportive functions. 

I actually chose to try out another model- the Sensit Plus, which is a chair that is the brand's most technical model. I love high-tech chairs for there's so many functions you can try out, and best of all, they actually improve your sitting experience tremendously. The Sensit Plus model offers you a healthier way to sit because they have a special "air cushion" technology, which means that you can adjust the lumbar cushion and the seat's hardness manually. 

Other features include adjustable arms, an adjustable headrest, gas lift, deep cushioned seat and an adjustable back. I ordered mine and was pretty impressed at the range of colors that I could choose from. Summit At Home lets you choose the color of the chair and whether you want adjustable armrests and an aluminium base, which I really wanted. The chair looked very polished and you can see a simulation of how it looks on their site. Talk about versatility! 

In terms of shipping and delivery, the chair came in 10 days which was pretty fast considering that each chair is typically manufactured within 3 to 6 days of order placement! The shipping was convenient and reliable, and my delivery driver was very friendly and helpful. The chair came fully assembled, so there's no need for me to set anything up (which was such a relief). 

Being the student that I was, I eagerly gave the chair a try. I set it up, and sat on it for about 5 hours working. Honestly, this chair is the most comfortable office chair that I've ever sat on. Everything about the chair was designed to fit the shape of a human back- the lumbar pillow actually hits the right spot and the cushioned seat supports your glutes well. I love the extra little touches, such as the inflatable seat cushion which can be adjusted using the press of a button. I also found the side pumps easy to use, and the chair's headrest fits perfectly on my body.

In terms of the comfort and ease of use, this chair's a 10/10. The material of the seat is comfortable and breathable, and made from high-quality fabric. It feels sturdy and strong, and the chair isn't too heavy either. The chair had a patented "Airbridge" technology to deliver variable support for your spine through inflatable AirCare seat cushions. I absolutely think this makes the chair unique and extremely supportive. It came with a handy instruction manual which gave clear instructions on how to adjust the chair. It is extremely supportive and I'm pleased to say I actually got rid of my old desk chair because this was such an upgrade.

If you're working at home, it is well worth it to invest in a high-end office chair because it really pays you back in terms of the comfort and support it offers. Summit At Home's Sensit Plus chair performed outstandingly well, and is officially the most supportive chair that I've sat on. I would highly recommend investing in a chair which would last for years to come. My back's no longer killing me, and I can finally write my thesis in peace!
