One of my life-long goals is to go backpacking around the world. I want to visit Eastern Europe, hike the Rocky Mountains of Slovenia, scale the Swiss mountains and become a world-traveller before I turn 30. Now, I recently got a lot of items from Wildernesswear, an amazing shop that stocks clothing for active people who share the same goals as me.
A bit about the brand- Wildernesswear is well known for producing its core range of technical outdoor clothing over many years, refining and developing items from season to season. It is equally dedicated and adept at conceiving dynamic new products to represent the brand. They are based in Australia, where some of the best merino wool are produced. As a result, all their clothing are beautiful, unique and functional- perfect for those long treks in the mountain.
I'm going to take you through my haul with Wildernesswear, and talk about how their clothing prepares me to fulfil my life goal of travelling the world.
1) Women's Cool Merino Singlet- this gorgeous singlet comes in black and blue, but I got this blue one as it is bright, colorful and looks fantastic during a hike. I wore this to my yoga class the other day and it was really cooling and breathable, as it's made from 70% superfine merino wool and 30% tencel. The tencel makes the fabric quite soft and smooth, and you can even wear this during a night in your house. This top is one of my favourites because it's quite versatile, and you can wear this casually too. It's extremely well-made and features flat seams which flatter the body, and I really like how it looks on me.
2) Mens Compression Merino 200 Leggings - these leggings aren't just for men, they fit women too! They're made from pure merino wool but feels really different because the outer fabric is made from a nylon spandex blend. These leggings are extremely comfortable as they're soft on the inside, but stretchy and strong on the outside. I've been looking for leggings that actually stretch during hikes and these are perfect for long walks and even light jogging. What I love about these leggings are that they're incredibly snug and fits so well on the skin. I feel like I'm not wearing anything but they keep me super warm during the winter hikes that I went on recently in Hong Kong. These leggings are made to withstand tough days and nights on a mountain, and I'm definitely ready to take these for a trip.
3) Women's Merino 350 Alpine Middo Mid Layer- this gorgeous blue jacket is made to be worn outdoors as a mid layer. I've always wanted a merino wool jacket and this zip-up jacket is perfect for running, hiking and travelling. It's made from 100% pure merino wool but feels very light, thin and comfortable to wear over a merino tee. It's highly insulating, and I feel extremely warm during the evenings when I'm wearing this jacket. This gorgeous top features a Ponte merino wool that provides subtle warmth and wicks away moisture, dries quickly, and is naturally odor-resistant.
What I love most about this top is that it's extremely versatile and can be worn for casual everyday situations. I wore this on a trip to the wilderness of Hong Kong the other day, and it protected me from the strong winter winds and the light rain that day. It's one of the best items that you can possibly get if you want to travel the world and go hiking, and I'm really happy with the fitting and design too.
4) Women's Cumulo 150 Short Sleeve Tee- this light grey tee caught my eye as it looks so comfortable and chic, yet it is actually one of the most practical and functional t-shirts that I've ever seen. It's made from the lightest merino wool fabric, which gives it a light, airy feel. However, when you wear this you never want to take it off. I wore mine to one of my "hot" yoga classes the other day and it didn't smell at all after the sweaty session. The superfine wool doesn't itch a single bit, and feels perfect on my skin- it's simply lush. Not only is it odour-resistant, it is also moisture-wicking, ultra comfortable and stretchy- perfect for a workout!
5) Women's Merino Max 260 Long Sleeve Crew Top- this heavy-duty, gorgeous black crew top is classy, elegant and a hiker's dream. I love how this durable merino top is made from a thicker merino wool fabric than the other pieces that I've talked about so far. The material of this top is high-quality, quite thick and also sturdy- perfect for those of you who travel and backpack to colder countries. I'm going on a trip to the UK soon and will definitely need this top for my outdoor activities.
The best thing about this top is that it features gusset panels for increased mobility so you can actually run, jog and do anything in this top. It's also got raglan sleeves which look adorable, and is slimming on the body. As with all of Wildernesswear's clothing, the quality is fantastic and this top can surely last for years to come even if you wash it a lot.
6) Women's Merino Max 260 Leggings- the merino wool leggings from Wildernesswear is also brilliant. I've never owned a pair of woollen leggings before, but after trying these on I will never turn back to polyester or cotton leggings again. The leggings simply feels different- it is lighter, warmer and a bit more sheer compared to normal exercise leggings. I plan to layer this with my yoga pants or track pants, to give it extra warmth during the snowy months.
7) Women's Merino Mid 195 Long Sleeve Offset Zip Neck top- this gorgeous top is one of my favourites too as it looks so chic and stylish, yet it's one of the most practical tops that I've ever had. It features a zip-neck front which protects you from the weather, and there is a hidden side pocket for you to store anything you need. The raglan sleeve designs tucks and tones the body, making your silhouette appear slimmer. I wear this top with a skirt on casual days, and some merino leggings on the days that I want to exercise. It's super comfortable too, as the 100% pure merino wool fabric doesn't itch or scratch my skin.
This top helps you regulate the temperature as you move, as you can zip and unzip the top as you wish. It offers so much flexibility and I feel like I can do pretty much any sport in this gorgeous top. I also love the fact that the quality is so high- the zips on the top is made from YKK zips, one of the best-known manufacturers in the world. The merino wool is sewn beautifully and there's not a single loose thread in sight. It's simply amazing!
8) Women's Merinofusion Light Short Sleeve Tee- I got two of these versatile and sporty t-shirts in red and blue, and they're probably the most comfortable "technical" t-shirts that I've ever tried on. The fabric is simply lush as it's made from a 50% merino wool and 50% Ultra-fine Schoeller Polypropylene blend, giving it unique moisture-wicking and breathable qualities that other sporty t-shirts won't have. These interesting merino fusion garments are created by Wildernesswear as a way to enhance the natural qualities of merino wool, and transform them into a more practical and light garment.
The fabric instantly stood out when I tried these tops on. It's smooth, light and totally non-irritating to my sensitive skin. Usually I wear polyester t-shirts to run but these t-shirts felt so much better compared to the normal ones that I have. I love the cut and design too, as they're slim-fitting, gorgeous and so much better than the other exercise garments that I have in my drawer. I wear them jogging all the time and they're holding up beautifully.
9) Women's Bamboo Runner socks- these socks are extremely soft and comfortable, and they're made from bamboo and spandex which gives it a really stretchy texture. I love how these socks wicks away moisture and I wear them for my hikes all the time. They're perfect for sports, jogging, walking or general activities around the city. I also love the colour of these socks.
10) Women's Merino Fleece Socks- these are perhaps the warmest socks in my wardrobe right now, as they're made from 83% merino wool and 15% nylon, which creates a perfect balance of warmth and stretchiness. I love how the socks are quite long, so I can wear them underneath my boots during the winter season. These socks are sure to protect you against the harshness of the weather, and are so comfortable too. I have to say, Wildernesswear stocks extremely high-quality socks.
11) Merino 10k socks- these socks are again extremely functional and lovely. I love the feel of these women's socks as they are a bit thicker than the bamboo runner socks that I mentioned above. They're perfect for long runs and walks in more rockier terrain. It keeps my feet blister-free and protected during walking, and the colour is also beautiful!
12) Men's Merino Multi Sport 3.0 socks- these merino wool and spandex socks are perfect for men and women as they're a bit sturdier and larger than the other socks in this review. They're made from wool which originates from Tasmania, which means that it's extra durable and premium in quality. The socks feel extremely good on my feet, and they're totally machine washable too!
Overall, I'm so happy with my haul from Wildernesswear as it really prepares me for my life goal of trekking the mountains of Europe. I plan to take a trip to Slovenia next year and spend 2 weeks hiking their mountains, and I'm definitely going to be wearing all my Wildernesswear clothing on the trip. Right now, their items are perfect for my daily exercise routine and hiking adventures, and I'm sure that these lovely and functional clothing will last me for years to come.
Hope you liked this review and do check out Wildernesswear!
