So I finally took the plunge and entered the wonderful world of hair dyeing. For those of you who know me, I've never dyed my hair before because I've had a bad experience with a box dye, which damaged my hair quite a lot. But having grown out my hair for 5 years, I've been wanting to try this awesome technique called "balayage", which means a natural sweep in French.
I was lucky enough to be able to get my hair dyed at Live True London in Clapham, and I want to talk about what happened at the salon, my experience with the stylist and everything that happened afterwards. So I entered the beautiful salon and my stylist greeted me with a friendly smile, talked to me about what colour I wanted and got started. The salon features independent stylists who work under one shop, but every stylist is responsible for their own client.
I chose to get a balayage ombre highlight, which is a technique used to create a natural ombre look. I love it because it's stylish, and I saw on Live True London's instagram that they do quite a lot of these. Take a look at my photos below!
The salon is beautiful and looks extremely well-lit, bright and friendly. Everyone working here was really nice and they offered me tea before doing the highlight. My balayage stylist talked me through the steps, which involved first dying the hair with a hand-painted technique called balayage, and then heating the foils using a machine. It took a while because the stylist was detailed, meticulous and took her time to paint the colour on my hair.
I also did an Olaplex treatment, which meant that my dye was mixed in with a hair protector to maintain the bonds in the proteins. I had to bleach the hair which could be damaging, but the treatment really did it's job well. My hair feels smooth and shiny right now, so I wasn't too nervous.
As you can see, the balayage highlights turned out stunningly well, and it looks amazing in the light. It is a light caramel shade which shines under the sun, and it's blended extremely well with my black hair. The hair feels smooth and soft because of the treatment, and the colour is so natural that I don't even notice any lines where the colors come in. It's really well done, and took around 3 hours to do. The results are totally worth it, and I really enjoyed my salon experience.
Overall, my hair used to be boring and plain, but now it's got this extra movement and shine that I have always wanted. Live True London did an excellent job on my hair for the balayage, and I cannot recommend them enough!
