Many of us are looking forward
to attending one of the summer’s biggest festivals in the next few weeks.
Festivals are the place to try out some of the newest summer trends and styles
and get more colourful and creative with your fashion choices. However, festival
trends have evolved far beyond the denim shorts and flower crowns that have
been the epitome of festival style over the past few years. Here are 5 of the
biggest festival trends for this summer’s festival season.
Western
After taking over many of the
SS18 catwalks, Western-inspired style is officially
“on-trend” this summer. For festivals, choose a pair of cowboy boots instead of
chunky and hot wellies and pair them with flowing floral dresses or flattering
kimonos. Anything with tassels or studs are also popular additions to the
western trend this summer and can be found on almost anything, from bags to
belts. If you’re not a fan of the festival favourite, swap the bucket hat for a
stylish cowboy hat to finish off your boho vibe.
Denim
and White Tee Combo
If there is anything you take
away from this year’s Coachella festival, it’s that all the celebs and models
are big fans of the denim and white tee combination. This simple yet stylish
look is extremely easy to pull off and won’t take up much room in your
backpack. Pair your combination with some matching white accessories, such as
sunglasses or a classic 90s scrunchie. When it comes to footwear, everything
goes with this combination classic, from Dr Martens to Converse. This is the
perfect festival trend and can be mixed up to suit your personal style.
Glitter
More is better when it comes to
this key festival trend. Festival
glitter is big this year and however you wear it you’re sure to be
in style. Whether you prefer a big chunky glitter or a smaller, more refined
sparkle, what you do with it is what counts. On the third day of a festival
when your hair is in need of a wash, just add some glitter to your roots to
achieve one of the hottest summer trends. Facial glitter is the perfect way to
accessorise at a festival and will see you shining all day (and night) long and
is the perfect way to hide tired eyes and skin.
Sportswear
A festival is the perfect time
to try out styles you might not usually wear. Swapping your denim shorts for
sportswear-inspired trends might be a bold call, but sportswear is much more
comfortable and lightweight than traditional festival wear. Style with a plain
and simple t-shirt or a waterproof bomber jacket to really pull off the whole
look. Not only will you be on top of the style stakes, you’ll be comfortable
and dry if the typical festival weather starts.
Belt-Bags
If you get bored and tired of
carrying a huge backpack around during a festival, then ditch the straps for
this summer’s take on the classic bum bag. Big enough for all of your
essentials but not bulky or heavy, belt bags are the perfect festival accessory.
For extra security, pick one with a zip so that you’re not at risk of dropping
your belongings or getting them stolen. If you want to upgrade this look, pair
with silver jewellery or a crochet vest.
So many wonderful styles! I love a good pair of cowboy boots :)
