Every once in a while, I come across a unique and interesting brand with incredible, gorgeous clothing. Today, the brand that I'm going to talk about is called Monks on Vacation, which is a boutique brand that sells garments designed to give comfort and modern style to the everyday woman. The brand specialises in slow fashion, which means that their clothing is made with precision, care and using sustainable methods in the heart of England. Monks on Vacation aims to keep their collections small, because each piece can be worn in many different ways to create the perfect casual look.
A bit about the brand- Monks On Vacation was founded in May 2015 by Anneli Nowroz who aimed to create niche collections to encorporate a 24/7 capsule wardrobe. The brand wanted to capture the best of British fashion using gorgeous materials, simple designs and gorgeous fabrics, and the result of this creative journey is the brand's lovely, luxurious range of items. All of their beautiful clothing is designed and created in the UK, and draws on the founder's family textile heritage dating back to the 1960s.
I'm going to talk about two items from the brand's Zighy Resort Collection, a wonderful collection which is full of comfortable, flowy and luxurious clothing that gives off a casual, 'holiday' vibe. It's pretty much the perfect collection for when you're going on holiday or a weekend getaway with your friends, and all of their styles are extremely gorgeous! I'm in love with every single piece from their collection, and have chosen to review two items that stood out most.
The first thing that I got was this incredible Zighy Silk Top- silk is perfect for the warmer months as it is light, airy and wonderfully cooling. What I love most about this gorgeous top is that it comes in a warm, mustard yellow colour, which adds a dash of boldness to any outfit. I wore it with a black skirt and some heels for a casual look, and also paired it with a maxi dress for a more relaxed, resort look.
I think the design of the top is amazing- the Zighy silk top features a deep v-neck, which is flattering for any body shape and creates a slimming effect. The sleeves are bell-shaped, which is great because it makes your arms look slimmer. It comes in a relaxed fit, which means that you can wear it over your swimsuit by the pool, over a cami top or a dress to give it a different style.
The quality of this silk top is second to none. It is made from 100% pure silk, which is a natural, breathable material, and the piece feels really good when worn on your body. I love how thin it is, but it isn't see through so you can wear it by itself and still look great. Monks on Vacation's range is all made from high-quality materials, and the finishing of this top is absolutely perfect!
In terms of the material, the dress is made from a light viscose crepe fabric, which is quite smooth and silky although it isn't as light as the pure silk top. I really love the fabric of the maxi dress, as it is not see-through at all, and feels quite sturdy and durable unlike many other maxi dresses that I own. The bottom of the dress also has a split hem, which makes walking so much easier!
The quality and the design of the dress is also excellent. The straps at the top are adjustable, which means that you can make it lower or higher depending on what you like. Personally, I find that a higher strap looks better on me. Once again, Monks on Vacation's quality is pretty top-notch, and the dress feels like it's the most luxurious maxi dress that I've ever touched!
Monks on Vacation also has a huge range of tops and bottoms in their new collections, and it's definitely worth checking them out. I think I'm in love with this brand, and am going to be purchasing more from them in the coming few months!
