Since one of my most popular posts were spotlighted on Cinemagraphs (read Spotlight: Cinemagraphs) I want to feature yet another one of my favourite types of picture found in Tumblr and other sharing sites... Infographs.
Infographs are those elongated, large pictures that you can find almost every blogging or image sharing website, as well as some marketing and branding sites. They usually show interesting statistics that surprise, wow, amaze and make you raise your eyebrows. What I love about them is that they manage to portray tedious numbers and mathematical statistics as something FUN and lively! Drawings, illustrations and colorful designs are used.
Infographs blend information and graphs together in a creative, modern and fun way.
Note: the images below are really long and tall; if you keep scrolling you'll find some funny and stunning infographs.
Out of the 191 countries that are counted by the United Nations only 81 (42%) to have a building that is higher than 100 meter |
Some people even specialise in creating these visualisations and call themselves infographers! Of course, the main aim is to make stunning visual information design, and this has turned into a way of turning MATH into ART !
Want more ? Check out Pinterest for more cool infographs. Has any of you ever made your own infograph before ? What do you think of this way to show information ?
I think these things are so fun to read! Though sometimes I wonder where the stats come from lol
