Guest Room Blog - Types of roommates !

I recently embarked on a foreign internship program, in a land that I know and love. It's an unpaid position but I do get a reference letter and plenty of relevant experience, or at least I hope so! It starts tomorrow, but for the last two weeks I lived in a temporary room in a hostel.

What's more interesting is that every night, there is a different short term guest that stayed for a night and shared the room with me. It did take a while to get used to, and at first I felt frustrated at the lack of privacy. But apart from being awkward,  it's also interesting to observe the different people I encountered then. Here's who I met living in the big twin guest room (Part 1 of series)

Day 1 (20st Oct) 
A young, 20-something Spanish girl named Agata - she was a softspoken, lovely, gentle girl with long brown hair. Didn't seem to have enough strength to open the door. She had a wicked fashion sense, quite vintage but not at all revealing. You know, like the vintage posters of Polish girls during the war, walking with free spirits and a brave smile. Her style was the first thing I noticed. She was chatty - inviting me to go to the movies with her and also a language conference in town. It turned out that her boyfriend was quite familiar with China and that she was a PhD student who wanted to teach drama and languages in the future. We added each other on Facebook - quite a nice girl overall.

Day 2 (21st Oct) 
An older woman of around 35-39 years old, who had a habit of knocking loudly whenever she entered and exited the room. She came into the room in the evening, just when I was awkwardly changing clothes. She was blonde, had messy hair and wore glasses. Took a shower and brushed her teeth really loudly (I think the hostel had paper thin walls, either that or she was a loud brusher). She came out of the toilet wearing quite flimsy pajamas - a silk romper, and promptly started reading on her bed at 8:30am. I'm getting ready to sleep too, so I asked her to switch off the lights. Couldn't catch what she was reading, but it seemed really thick and long. Perhaps it is a romance novel ?

Day 3 (22nd Oct) 
Brenda, an African girl on her way to Devon. She's super cool, and quite nice. She was very soft spoken and said Good morning to me, which was MUCH better than my last roommate... We didn't speak much, and I slept really early last night. I was quite tired and had a stomach ache, which meant I had an unpleasant sleep. I felt really guilty about rushing out at 6am for some emergency shopping - Brenda was still asleep! First impression ? She seemed like a nice person, undemanding and quiet. And she had a really cool cat face towel.. and lots of luggages.
